Sluffing???

Is it normal for zoos to sluff off a thin film after they are acclimated into your tank? It's not much, only a few pieces of the frag, and it comes off the trunk. (I don't know what to call it?)

Yes it happens sometimes. Usually nothing to worry about. Many soft corals do this and shortly after they usually open up.

Thanks for the input. That is kind of what I figured, but now I don't have to worry!

yup, thats normal... many times when I get a new colony, they do that. I think its when they stay closed for a long period of time that seems to trigger it. Sometimes my fish or cleaner shrimp help the process along by eating small pieces.

oh, and you can also help using a turkey baster and gently "blowing" pieces off

I'm going to start doing the turkey baster thing on a regular basis. I've read that that is a good idea.
