Small Anthias?

Is there an anthias that might be happy in a 40 breeder? I read on a site selling them that they had one whose minimum was a 30 gal. That seems a bit small to me. Has anyone heard of such a thing?

I think that's too small too because they enjoy a lot of open room and water movement. There's always gobies and blennys. lol

princess anthias are quite small, as are sunsets. But keeping water quality high in such a small tank with anthias is very difficult. I wouldn't recommend it to the casual fish keeper, but it can be done.

If you must have a anthias, and it has to be a more "generic" anthias, I agre with Peter that the sunsets and princess are some of the better choices (though not great for a 40B).

The "best" anthias choice for a 40B IMO, is a Sunburst Anthias.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I know I can only keep one, but I wanted some movement in the water column. I'm going with a minimalist aquascape, so it should have plenty of room. Are the males more colorful than the females in general?

Flasher wrasses may be a better choice for movement in the water column. Just keep the tank covered!
