Looks like its getting male pattern bright blue and yellow spotting at almost 4 inches. This guy was the small one someone questioned the thick white band being so thick.
After it sat at DD for 2 mos since they posted it I had to get it.
Since then it had fattened up and has a nice bulbous belly. ;)
It eats pretty much everything now. The mask is coming in nicely, and he has elongated to more of a male shape as well.
I remember reading that Kevin Kohen has not seen one turn male in cap.
I saved the DD pic and will post a before and after shots when I can get one today.
Hopefully in a year or so I can show a tranition to adult male coloration pic by pic.
Anybody else have the mask change?

I just want to add that the yellow band on males i see that is from the back all the way to the top lip is almost fully developed. Every female i looked at does not have that trait.
Could be just coincidence.

That's pretty neat to happen so fast, and at such a small size, AND with no female! Looking forward to the pics!

I am terrable with a camera and will continue to try and get a better pic, But you can see some of what i am talking about. The fish is turning so you cant see how it has elongated a tad.

And my poor pic, But it has the yellow spots there. When the halides come on i can probably get better shots.

FWIW, in my opinion, even females will get the faint "netting" on the face. A males will be vivid, blatant, and jaw dropping. So, I wouldnt count your weasels before theyve popped!

Yeah i am not going to guarantee anything, But its more blue than what my pics show. This is all my opinion. If i was to relate the blue its like my male scribbled's blue.
Heres a little better pic. The flash is washing out some color, and it wont come close to me to get a macro.
I am terrable with a camera so thats some of the reason, and second i am using a tiny point and shoot.

Copps said they start gowing girth when they stop growing lengthwise. Not mine they eat good. LOL Look at the belly. LOL

Jmanyapanda thanks for your imput! Thats why i am posting this. I have watched it change from what the pic looks like to this, and just stating my opinion. I am no expert on angels, Just a novice.
Maybe i should have worded the thread differently. "Looks like Meredithi could be changing."
Please feel free to disagree or agree. I will keep it updated if i am right or wrong in the future.
This fish is definately no pushover. It fights my purple tang thats a couple inches bigger than him/her.

I'm not an expert either, but if you ask me if still has all the telltale signs of female without anything making me believe it is changing into a male. It might just be hard to see due to the pictures not being "perfect" but that's my opinion. I've seen males and females in real life quite a bit lately and this one looks to be female.

Thanks, Its size alone at 4 inches would state its still a female, My thinking it was changing. Could just be from a not fully mature juvi coloration to an growing into adult coloration?? Dunno.

Theres still is some morphing going on. Dunno if this is normal or not. The yellow on his head is getting much brighter and now there's a royal blue sheen over the black mask.
Besides whats already there on the gill plate. Also I see a pronounced royal blue developing on the mouth of the fish. What I see on that vid of the female's and pics around the net is that the female's just have a dirty blue mask with no webbing while the males is much more of a royal blue.
The little guy here is going thru a growth spurt and eating like a hog. It is starting to get bulbous around the belly! He is also getting very aggressive with the smaller angels.
He hates the bicolor.
Granted its still a very small adult, and it could just be getting adult colors, But i am unsure if a females mask would be this bright of blue.
I'll take more pics as the morphing keeps going. Hopefully its a male if not no biggie, I can always buy one.

Well for the last week or so he has been grey and some changes to his tail fin. Theres a dark black bands setting in the tail and he is devolping more blue in his face and lips.
His body has turned grey though not jet black like it usually is.
He is eating and healthy. Fiesty as ever i am not worried about health at all.
Is this normal???

Thanks, Yes i do have a male scribbled with the meredithi. The meredithi is really aggressive with the smaller angels.
