Small filaments being "licked" in/out...what are they?

Sorry, I'm at the office with no picture.

I picked up a couple of Surabaya aquacultured pieces last night. Each has a few "creatures" burried (for lack of a better term) in it. They are not barnicales (I'm seen/have some of those).

On the outside they have 2 very small and thin "whip" like filaments that wave around. These filaments are about 3/8" long. The corals do not grow over the openings wher these filaments come out from. There are a total of 4 (2 in one branch, the others are singular).

Any idea as to what they are? Should I try to remove them or maybe just glue them in? I am concerned because the coral does not grow over these things so I know they irritate the coral.

Thanks

I have an encrusting monti with barnicles in it. That kinda sounds like what you are describing.

I think it's cool,

Do they resemble a half circle fan? If so, I have a couple on some of my wild pieces and they don't seem to be doing any harm.

I have some of them on a few of my acros too, wild and cultured. No bother to either of them. I agree with Wiskey...I think they're cool to watch as they grab for stuff. Leave them be.
