Small Interceptor Pills ok for red bugs

I have a pill in my possession that is for small dogs at 2.3mg. I believe the large pills that treat 400 gallons are 23mg. So I am assuming this pill is good for 40 gallons. I thought I read somewhere smaller pills contains a lesser percentage of the ingredient and are not as effective as the larger pills. Can anyone confirm this?

The smaller tabs may well have a lesser concentration for the size of the tablets; but the net contents printed on the package are the amount of active ingredient per tablet. So the 2.3 mg is for the smallest (2-10 lb) size, the largest (51-100 lb) size contains 10x that amount at 23 mg.

I think you may not have enough active ingredient.

I just hit my system (of 30 total gallons) with a 5.75mg pill (for 11-25lb dogs). It took all night for the bugs to disappear, and after 24 hours I found a hermit I'd missed, still alive. I threw him in the qt where it looks like he will survive.

I THINK I will have been successful in killing off the bugs, but I also think this dosage was marginal - and your dosage would be less than half what mine was.

I plan on doing multiple only if I see more after a week or so. Multiple doses are for security as the first dose if done properly should kill the bugs.

the directions are for several doses for several weeks to make sure you get all the hatched eggs. interceptor will not kill the eggs. hense the need for more than 1 small pill or take a large one and cut it up.

my 40gal took 1/4 of a large pill per dose per week. i dosed for 4 weeks and after the 5th week i had no signs. that was a year ago and all is clear.
