Small RBTA Identification???

I was at my local clubs frag swap yesterday and bought a small nem the guy sold to me as a RBTA (pink). I bought it regardless cause I liked how it looked and was only $25.

My question is this... is the nem I bought an actual Bubble tip anemone (e. quadricolor) or some other close relative. It is housed in a 203g with a couple other BTA's. I would like to keep multiple colors of BTA's but I want to make sure they are all e. quads so I don't have to worry about warfare in the tank.

Here is a pic of one I found online that is identical to the one I bought. I can post pictures of mine when I get home if it makes a difference.

It most likely is. In fact, I have one in my tank that looks like that. One of my RBTA's split, and one half turned hot pink. Pretty cool looking.

yep looks like a e. quadricolor. Depending on who you ask you will probably be told its highly bleached if its that color...

Well it did come from a split... so I know that is characteristic of e. quads. And I saw two more of the clones that looked identical to it. Even if its just bleached It is under 750w of MH's now so it will come back. If it stays hot pink though I will definately be pleased.

The center arch of my 203g will eventually be covered in different BTA's. I would like to get as many different variations as I can find.

I thought I would update this to prove those who would have called it bleached correct. Once the symbiotic algae replenished the nem turned more red to orange. With the darker algae inside it has lost its hot pink color. The nem still looks good so I am happy but it is definately not hot pink.

Ya its bleached but if you feed it and give it good conditions, it should recover and turn darker red.

Read above post . It already recovered, just wanted to update this so people who thought that it was a possible color would see what it ends up like. Its recovered color is a darker red/orange color (from the brown symbiotic algae).

any pic for comparison? so it only took about 2-3 months? did you feed it? if so, how often and what?

This picture is blue tinted so bad representation, I get my new camera next week, so I will take a good picture of its current color. It is def fully recovered and looking great. Even when it was bleached it never moved from where i put it, no chemical warfare between the nems either. I feed it daily to every other day, a mix of my own food that contains... squid/clams/shrimp/oysters/pe mysis/brine/seaweed. It is diced pretty small and its the same thing i feed everything in the tank. I prefer to feed the nems small amounts often rather than a big meal less often. I have heard horror stories of nems not digesting food and dying so I prefer to feed finely chopped food.

The results so far have been great, my rainbow BTA has split and both parts are decently large measuring 6 or so inches each. the nem that was the original pink is the nem in the bottom right of the set.

Yah it is settled and never moves. It deflates once in a while but not very often and is always reinflated soon after. The happiest nems in the tank are the two RBTAs at the top, they are also pretty large and will hopefully yeild lots more splits. They have a lot of rock to cover up there.
