Small shrimp in gold teardrop maxima??

I've notice that my gold teardrop was pinching at the mantle for a few days. So today I decided to give it a freshwater dip for a few minutes. I placed it into the freshwater and a very tiny shrimp swam out of the clam. Anyone with this experience. Is it good or bad???

Here are two of the best pictures I could get of it:

Yes, they are harmless and even supposedly benificial to clams. What a rare treat! (I had one in a squamosa)

So much about these shrimp are unknown, and we all know a clam will do just fine without the shrimp.

If you have no idea why the clam was pinching, it may or may not have been caused by the shrimp. Because the clam does not need it, and seems stressed, I wouldn't put the shrimp back into the clam.

Peabody is right on :) That is a "commensal" shrimp and they will help clean the gills of the clam. :) Glad that it survived the FWD.
