I've had an eagle eye colony for 2 1/2 months. All sorts of things came with it unbeknownst to me, aiptasia, asterina, vermetids, and red tube worms. I actually put the asterinas and aiptasia in their own fishbowl. I left the vermetid snails and red tube worms where they were (cause really I couldn't get to them anyway). There hasn't been a resurfacing of any aiptasia or asterinas since that first week. I have tried to be careful.
So, how could a small smooth blue worm have been hidden for 2.5 months until today? I only saw it briefly and not up close enough to see if it is truly smooth at a much more microscopic level, but I don't see or hear about worms like this in my online searches. It's about an inch or less, and semi light blue. It swam around for a minute then settled into the substrate, half buried. Could it be that this thing is a hitchhiker and went right into the sand so I never saw it until today?
And most importantly, please tell me what it is.
I have a useless picture I will attempt, and most likely fail, to post
