Small Starfish

I have these small stars in my tank that seem to mutiply by dropping a leg they stay small but seem to multiply in nusiance proportions would getting a harlequin shrimp help keep the population down?

Asterina coral-eaters are about the size of a matchhead and always look as if they've dropped a leg.

that is what they look like and we only had a few to start and now they are everywhere I have had very good coralline grow and now have hardly any also had a whole rock of green star polyps and they have disappeared is this in any way connected to this starfish?

They're coralline eaters as well, and will eat polyps. Sounds like you can indeed support a harlequin.
