Smart Controller 7000 Questions - Interval + Heating

Hey Roger,

I ordered the smart controller 7000 and it just arrived today, really excited to get it started.

My question is about using the interval mode in conjuction with the heating control. I planned to get two powered sockets for my chiller/heater and the instructions indicate I should use ports 2/3 for those which sounds great.

When I go to look at the interval mode setup it indicates that sockets 1/2 will both be on "high tide" and 3/4 will be on "low tide". Does that mean it is going to override the heating controls? Also am I going to be able to setup idle-speed like I am currently doing with my multicontroller?

I have not ordered the powered sockets yet, but I would really control both the heating and pumps all in one.

For anyone curious, the instructions can be found here: https://www.tunze.com/fileadmin/images/product_additional/7000.000#01#595.pdf

Thanks roger!

Each port is a 3 in 1 port, meaning it can run one light, one pump and one switched outlet or solenoid. On mine I use 3 switched outlets and 1 solenoid and 4 pumps. The switched outlet or solenoid is first in line, then the pump. The switched outlet cable is a Y branch that the pump plugs into. Be sure to update up to 1.3. Farenheit temperature control in the older software had a rounding error, basically you will close it, it "thinks" in Celsius and when converting to Celsius and back to Farenheit it rounds off causing a change of about .5 degrees from what you set, this is solved in 1.3. You will just drag the zip files you download into the update box, do not unzip them and do them in order, it takes about 10 minutes after each to reboot and for the WIFI to again be active. Do not use 2.1, 2.1 and 1.3 are the same, but 2.1 is for a later chip set that is in units just now being produced, there is zero functional difference but the new chip only recognizes updates beginning with 2.

So I won't even need Y cables, the switched outlet will take care of that?

Would you then reccomend connecting both my pumps and the switched outlets to ports 2/3, or should I still do pumps on 1/4 and outlets on 2/3?

Also, I just ordered the controller. Is it worth sending it back and getting the newer chip?

Newer chip units don't exist yet, they are coming soon and there is zero difference in speed, function, anything, this change happened because the basic brain of the unit is an off the shelf part and that part was updated, but the other 3 boards inside are the same and it has zero change to the overall device, that is why 1.3 and 2.1 are identical, but the different boards only recognize the correct program for there firmware.

The switched outlet takes care of it, depending on your pump program you will likely want to use outlets 3 and 4 or 1 and 3. It has zero impact on the pumps if the socket is in line before and changes nothing about the settings, but for example wavemode only uses 3 and 4 and interval will be between 1 and 2 on one end and 3 and 4 on the other.

Yes, really the software is the same it is just the naming convention, I only mention this because we have had a lot of people try to install 2.1 and then it ends up corrupted and 1.3 has to be reinstalled.
