Smoking tank

Sorry no pics. I wanted to ask you all if anyone has any info on smoking on a fish tank. My friend owns a club and would like to set up a few salt water fish only tanks and he does have some smokers in the club.
Any input would be great.
Thanks

Plus you'll have to dose nicotine if the smoker quits the group abruptly.
Nicorette in the sump works or you could paste a "patch" on the tank

Actually I think the skimmer would catch any that happened into the water including the inlet air on the skimmer. By the way I smoke and my fish have yet to start a class action suit against me or the wife.

I have wondered about that skimmer issue as well, not just with smoking ( I recently quit and am on the patch myself), but I have my cat's litter boxes in the fish room and they are loaded with amonia...I know it can't be good, but the tank is doing well. Maybe all the extra amonia beefs up the biological filter...or maybe i am just reaching now. My skimmer does have cotton that goes in the air intake and it does turn black and needs to be replaced frequently. That should help filter out the smoke contaminants from the skimmer injector.

PS. I have read about tank crashed that were credited to smoking, but it was a lot of smokers in a small area. Like having a big party in an apartment. You never know what else the drunks put in the tank though. I would also worry about this scenario in a bar.

What about a skimmer? Being as this uses air would that make matters worse?

Smoke getting into the air intake of the skimmer will kill the foam head in the skimmer. It has done that with a beckett and a NW skimmer. It doesn't take long to recover, but it kills it none the less.

id say the vibrations from the music continuously on would bother the fish.

ive just never have agreed to people putting tanks in their clubs. especially with really loud music..

I guess what I was hoping for was hard info to go back and tell him. I had a good idea the implications of smoking but wished that there was someone out there that has seen tanks in a club and how thr tank was doing. I guess the best thing is that he doesn't want to place corals in the tank.

If he were to build a inwall setup where it could draw in fresh air in would be best and nobody could put stuff in the tank like beer butts or vodka!

If you wear a respirator in a room with a smoker you won't smell much and all that is is carbon - just add carbon to the tank.
