SMS module preview

Only a few days left until we will start shipping the SMS modules.

So it's time to give some more information.

What can it do?

It will send a SMS to a preset phone number if one of these conditions occur:
- alarm
- powercut (thanks to the internal LiIon-battery with built-in battery charger)
- ProfiLux doesn't response (possibly dead?)
- digital input changes
- incoming call (password will be compared)
if you want it will be send once, cyclic, at a certain time, ...

Up to 30 different conditions and/or phone numbers can be stored.

The SMS text can be defined by the user, if needed a status report can be appended (state of all sensors).

All settings can be done in ProfiLux Control, version 4.04:

The SMS-module will be integrated in the whole system seamlessly.

The address of the monitored ProfiLux is adjustable -> you can connect more than one ProfiLux to the SMS module!

additional information:

the SMS unit will be connected to the built-in RS232 port of the ProfiLux (the cable is part of the package)

Since it has 2 RS232 ports the operation of a ProfiLux View at the same time is no problem, in this case the View will be connected to the SMS unit

This is the problem when I run offers. With every offer there has to be an expiry and then the day after expiry everyone asks if they can still get the discount

Does ths SMS take the place of the WLAN or do you still need the WLAN to use the SMS?

Two completely different units offering completely differetn functionalities

SMS unit sends you text messages to your cell phone

WLAN is a network card for Wireless interfacing and internet access

You can use both at the same time

Can you give examples of use for the digital inputs the manual does not explain how to use these?

I am assuming these are for connecting your own devises to. i.e simple on/off switches for varying uses. But it would be good to have some examples.

there is not much more to explain:
if there is a voltage on the digital input then a SMS will be sent

It is up to the users fantasy for what purpose he will use this.
OK, one example: An external level switch could power the digital input in the case of an overflooding...

can you disable the sms unit in the maintenance mode?

you can disable SMS transmission generally (see manual) during maintenance

Sorry what I meant is can you have a 'Disable SMS' in the maintenance menu? I for one would forget to turn it back on, if it's not under the maintenance.

no, but there are no alarms occuring during maintenance which may cause a SMS-message
