Are these snails safe?

They're sort of safe. They are Engina species, which are small whelks, but they apparently only eat small worms and maybe tiny molluscs. A few of them in your tank likely won't be a problem, but a bunch might impact the overall worm population.

Wow, you are very good at this ID stuff. I have looked for a while & could not find these snails any where untill you gave up the name. Thanks for your help.
