Snail ID

Recovering Detritophobe
Hello,

Is this a "peppermint snail"? I believe it is a good member of a cleanup crew that will self reproduce. But I want to make sure.

BTW - snails are mollusks, so I thought about posting this in the "clam and other mollusk forum" but then snails were also listed under other inverts, and I thought here would be more appropriate.

Not a peppermint snail, it's a Dove Snail, or columbellid (Euplica scripta). It should be a safe algae grazer, and is one of the species sold as "Strombus Grazers," though not strombids at all.

Cheers,

Don

Cool. I've got some acros that went through a rough time recently and these like to congregate in the branches for shelter or food or whatever... but someone should tell these little guys it looks suspicious when a whole bunch of them hang out on a coral that isnt doing so well.
