snail in overflow

Anyone ever have a snail crawl into your overflow? This happened to me last night. Snail was in the process of being sucked into my herbie overflow intake... lucky i woke up before he clogged my overflow intake. Any suggestions on how to avoid this in the future?

Sure.. It happens..
Extra protection from clogging is one of the reasons I run a bean overflow setup and won't run herbie,etc...

I've also had a snail sitting over the single "anti-siphon" hole when the power went out thus causing my sump to overflow 10 gallons onto my floor.. Not fun.... Now I run 2 or 3 holes to help prevent that situation from occurring again....

Many have lids/teeth on their overflow to avoid critters getting in,etc...

I have a coast to coast overflow and run a bean. I made this screen. It helps with new comers. I dont have teeth on my weir. Snails still get in. I have those flat low profile strainers on my 2 intakes. Just in case.
