Snail-like thiny ID

Sorry I don't have a picture. I have these snail-like things that come out at night. They look like a cross between a snail with no shell and a slug and are about a quarter inch long. My LFS told me that they are good for the tank, however they seem to be multiplying like rabbits. Does anyone have any idea what these things might be and how I can get rid of them?

My biggest worry is that I have a sheet of slate in there for my clowns to lay eggs on but as soon as the lights go out the sheet is covered with these things. Then the clowns clean that sheet off all day the next day. I think it is preventing them from laying eggs.

Yeah that's them. Thanks.

I know they're good for the tank and all, but I'm afraid they're going to eat the clownfish eggs. They crawl all over the rock that the clowns are going to use for spawning.

I wouldnt think they'd bother the eggs, I think they're vegetarians...probabaly a good thing for the rock since they're cleaning algae and stuff off of it...If you're worried about having so many start picking them out of the tank and finding others or your LFS that might want them?

Also, I've never had my clown lay eggs but from what I've read the flows in a regular tank are too much for them and the filters get them :( look around at the my clowns had babies or similar type threads all those people use a separate tank for the babies. There is a super cool thread on here IMO, I'll find it for you, very informative about baby clowns and cool pictures and video!

I've got a separate set up for my clown pairs and extra tanks for larvae and grow-out. This just happens to be the two clowns that I didn't want to move out of the display tank. I intend to remove the eggs prior to hatching or at least turn the pumps off on hatch night.
