can turbo snails cross over sand? if not what kind of snail can? terrible algae need clean up crew

No, they will most likely not visit the sand. Try cerith snails.

They'll cross it, but I've never seen my turbos spend any significant amount of time on the sand. Some other options are cucumbers and serpent/brittle stars, though I think the starfish are mainly going for the detritus and not the algae.
