Listen guys, not one to bash local stores, but I'm about to do just that. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Beverly's is nothing more than a supermarket, and I proved it once again by making an impulse buy. I was there to check prices on some lighting and food, and saw a redlip blennie I just had to have. Now, I have a terrible mortality rate from their store (almost no mortality from everywhere else, so I know it's not me.) I've lost a dragon wrasse, sailfin tang, flame hawk, 2 yellowhead jawfish, and a flame angel that I've bought from them (all separate occasions across 3 years.) Now the redlip blennie. None of those lasted a week. I keep saying I'll never buy from them again, but every once in a while everything looks good and I take a chance. This was on Wednesday. I saw the snails in the tanks and was tempted by the price, but watching the tank proved most of the snails were immobile. They looked like they were stunned. Lots on their back, not even attempting to get up. I'm done. I won't shop there again. I also sat there and listened to a salesperson sell a small dogfaced puffer to a guy with a reef tank. "I have live rock, a couple of digitata, and a clam" No problem, says the clerk... this guy's eating shrimp. I almost threw up when I heard that. I've spent a lot in that store, and heard bad advice, and tried to help where I could. No longer. Give the business to stores that try to keep their aquatics healthy. Not try to sell you the fish as they come in before they are out of the bag.
