Common name is "Shark's Eye" or "Whale Eye," it's latin name is Neverita duplicata. It's in the moon snail family of naticids, and is a predatory snail. Most of the holes you see in shells on the beach were probably drilled by this species. They are very neat snails, but probably wouldn't be great for an aquarium unless you kept a separate tank for it and dropped in prey species. They prefer silty/sandy areas.
