i found this today and was wondering if it was reef safe

thats a big snail. I guess you could put him in and watch him. If he does any damage, it will be slow, hence the name snail
 
i was out of town and my daughter found it at the beach and made my wife bring it home for the tank. its way too big for my 46. now im stuck with it till morning. . ill be returning him to his home.
 
Common name is "Shark's Eye" or "Whale Eye," it's latin name is Neverita duplicata. It's in the moon snail family of naticids, and is a predatory snail. Most of the holes you see in shells on the beach were probably drilled by this species. They are very neat snails, but probably wouldn't be great for an aquarium unless you kept a separate tank for it and dropped in prey species. They prefer silty/sandy areas.
