Snails did not move.

Hi, i have just bought 3 astrea snails. I have introduced them into the main display tank, i placed them on the sand substrate. They did not move at all, neither i saw any head of the snails came out of their shell. They were well when i introduced them yesterday. Is there something that's wrong with this? or are they nocturnal?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.:)

What are your water parameters?Your SG has to be around 1.025 for keeping inverts and cleanup crews. They need to be acclimated slowly to the tank. Can you pick one up to see if it is alive?

If properly aclimated they should be OK, but Astreas belong on the rock rather than the sand. Move them to the rock.

Hi, thanks for the reply........

twins6511, how we know if the snails is dead. Mine has some flesh within it still. but i do not know if it is dead. however, it releases some mucous when i lifted it up just now. anyone has any idea?

any help will be greatly appreciated. :) thanks.

The snail will move if touched----if after 2 days and it hasn't moved--it's gotta be dead---should smell pretty bad--live ones don't smell like that. Acclimate for 2-3 hours to be sure.
