snails that reproduce?

Cerith snails reproduce, and are the most available to purchase. Mini Strombus snails also reproduce prolifically, but are harder to find. Into Pacific Sea Farms used to sell them on their web site, but no more. I've been told they do sell them on their Facebook site now.

Yep. Trochus. I purchased 10 of them about 3-4 months ago, now have at 20-30 least tiny ones now.

I think they are must in an aquarium -- good job of eating algae, don't knock stuff over (like hermit crabs) and do a good job of eventually turning themselves back over when they fall.

I've seen a lot of limpets reproducing in aquariums as well. I've found all these critters - snails, brittle stars and stars, etc. eventually die out, leaving bristleworms and mysids only in the (very) long run. As I love all the various cooties in marine tanks, this is kind of disappointing, but that's what happens after 8-12 years.

Snails that reproduced in my tank included a few species in the following genus:

Strombus
Stomatella
Trocus
Cerith

also

Chiton
Limpets

thanks guys. I was just trying to recall a thread about little snails that commonly reproduce in tanks so I could order them. But you guys have given me several options. thank you.

I have trochus for over a year and haven't seen any little ones. I've had both collonista and stomatella snails become a nuisance and then one day you look and they're all gone. The collonistas were so bad they were jamming my pump impellers, they really were a plague and just like that they were gone. Funny how things can cycle like that. Wish my mushrooms were like that but I'm afraid they're forever.
