Any tips on where to snorkel in DR? I know there are better spots in the Carribean but I happen to be in DR a lot and I am hoping for some recommendations. Thanks.

I lived there for about 2 years and was not impressed...in fact places I did go along places on the north coast were entirely dead.

Just my experience.

Hi, was just there back in June and we went on a snorkeling catamaran excursion. Plenty of fish but little coral--maybe some sea whips and a few brains but that was it. There may be other areas where the tourists don't frequent on these trips but we didn't go there...from the resort I found a small reef about 50 yards off mostly fish and cludy due to speedboats and such nearby. Overall not the best place to snorkel...

You're prob right but it did seem as if the tours were going to the same area; the one place we did go was extremely shallow in spots and you litterally had to suck in your gut when you snorkeled over the rock--which was nice because it put you up close and personal with the fishes and i dive into small valleys and such amoungst the fish...better than if you were ten feet above the rocks and not seeing as much...he's a picture with one of the sea whips/gorgonians...there were some brain corals and such and a type of colonial zoanthid but not tons...The day was really overcast and rainy so the pictures would of been better with sun out..
