Snorkling near Venice FL?

Hey guys,

My wife and I are going to be in Venice FL for a few days. I wanted to know if there was anywhere nearby that would have some good snorkling for beginners. It looks like the Keys would be a good area to try. However, I was hoping for something a little closer though. Any ideas? Would I be better off just getting a guide in the Keys? Thanks.

I don't really know if Venice is a good place for snorkeling , but I will throw this out there and you can figure out if its possible to snorkel. I know that Venice is sopposed to be an awesome place to go on Shark tooth dives. I know that when you dive you can either go out on a charter or shore dive. Im sorry this probably isn't any help, but if you are into that sort of thing its supposed to be awesome for finding teeth.

Yea now that you mentioned that I do remember hearing about a beach you can go to and collect shark teeth. Might be worth checking out. Thanks for the reply.

Jupiter Florida isn't as far as the keys, and we have wonderful snorkeling here. From Venice it is around 185 mi â€"œ about 3 hours 43 mins. Well worth it, if you can make it. The West Coast is alright for snorkeling, but it is nothing like the Atlantic, unless you are into seagrass habitats.
