snowboarding

Louis' method, in a padded case, works fine as well. You just don't want to open the case until it's warmed up. The bag method lets the camera come back up to temperature faster; i.e. you can use it. I'd throw the lens in as well.

Honestly, you'll likely be fine without doing any of that but there's is always at least one camera that goes down during our winter workshops due to moisture issues. Better safe than sorry.

Ah, so if I bring my camera with lens mounted, I can just leave it in the pack until the pack comes to temperature? I will be taking a bus there and back, and likely won't be using the camera after the snowboarding, and the bus ride back is four hours. So sounds like I should be good.

Dude, you'll be totally fine. You're worrying to much about it. These things are a lot tougher than I think we give them credit for. FWIW I have taken my camera in and out of extreme temps many times with either no protection or maybe just wrapped in a shirt or something. I've had condensation on the rig too and no ill effects. Don't be so paranoid that you miss a great shot or just worry about it all the time (and don't forget to post some pics when you get back!!)

I take my camera out snowkiting with me as long as you have a hard pack to protect it you should be fine. I not only fall on my pack but am dragged with it on me a lot hah. so no worries just have something safe to put it in. i have a dakine camera block and my camera still works 100% hahah.

here is a pic a buddy snapped of me last season
