Snowflake, angler, lion

I was planning on having an angler in my 14g cube, and 1 or two dwarf lion's in a 40b

I just saw a snowflake eel and really want it.

Can I do the angler, snowflake, 1 or two dwarf lions, dwarf angel(s?), and maybe one or two others in the 40b

Or should I keep the angler or snowflake in the 14?

I kinda want the 14 to be non aggressive.

What does rc think?

Way to small for a snowflake other then maybe the first 6 months or so of it's life. Maybe the angler if you get one of the dwarf varieties, dwarf lion providing it's bigger then the angler and something like a golden dwarf moray.

Not sure what size tank the Snowflakes need, but a 40B is too small. 14g is waaaay too small.
Have you seen the Fu manchu Lions? Find a pair of them( you'll have to buy them as a pair ) for your 40B. They are super neat...But not sure how an angler would do with them. Anglers like to eat everything their size or smaller.
Angels are pickers, and will probably mess with the Lion(s). I could also see an Angler taking out a Dwarf Angel.

a ribbon eel is probaly the onlt affordable one. the ghost ribbon would be your best bet. the blue and black are extreamly hard(i know from experience. 3 weeks to eat anything and 6 months to eat frozen).

the dwarf lions i had were cramped in a 30gal. i dont thing a 40 would be much more breathing room with the other fish that have been stated.

i would not do a,lion in the tank. and if i did it would be the only fish in it.

i have seen vids of anglers eating things 1.5X their size. so IMO anglers are a specied only fish.

Radix, call a LFS and find out pricing on the eel. I thought the same thing when I saw the price on Liveaquaria ( I have a recent thread on this forum board too) and then I called a LFS, they offered a price of 150 for a GDM and they're one of the most reputable stores in my area. I'm sure they'd work something out with you.

Best of luck!

I saw a thread over on another forum where a member has 2 dwarf lions, a six line wrasse, lemon peele angle and tomato clown in a 40b and there's still more than enough room. 150 is still too much for me, high school budget

I'm going to be getting a dwarf angler (so either wartskin, or painted). The max size is 4-5 inches so theyre not too large to eat everything

And I've heard success stories of snowflakes in small tanks

That would work in the 40, so would a dwarf angler work with the eel, and dwarf lion?

I have anglers with my goldentails but you do need to be careful because a full size one could eat a dwarf angler easily if it wanted. Dwarf lion ok as long as its got a little size.

Ok so my stock list would be this:

Wartskin or painted angler (large size)
Golden tail, snowflake, or Fimbriated eel
Fuzzy, fu Manchu or Atenata lion
Other- longnose hawkfish, Lemonpeel angel, flame angel

I would keep the fu man chu in a species only tank or maybe with another real slow moving scorp like the leaf scorps. Longnose would be gone. Your best bet in that bunch would be the goldentail or snowflake with the dwarf or antennata, maybe the angler depending on the eel. I wouldn't put the fimb with any of those except maybe the antennata or dwarf but that could be a gamble depending on the individual fimb, I had a couple that were really decent with lions and I had one that didn't play nice with anything other then a decent size black trigger.

Ok so wartskin/painted angler
Antenata/fuzzy lion
Snowflake/golden tail eel
Dwarf angels

What else would I be able to keep? Scorp/rhino? Toadfish? Anything?

Not a toadfish, mouths are to big and will clean out your tank except maybe the eel. Possibly a s. diabolis..stonefish as they are buryers and don't move much. You will have to watch your bioload in the 40 or you will run I to problems too. Good skimmer.
