my hang on flter. It went in there a lot the last few months of its life. One day I noticed a bunch of skin flakes floating all throught the tank. I can't find the remains though from the eel. Although every time I do a water change, I notice a HORRIBLE rotton egg like smell. Is this bad for the rest of my fish only 100 gal tank?

I guess it all depends on how big it is on if it will hurt the tank but why didn't you fix it so it could not get in the filter?

Can you take your filter apart and clean it out? Also, check your ammonia..dead things tend to cause a spike. Sorry about your eel...they are great pets but sometimes hard to keep in the tank and out of things.
