Snowflake Eel help

I just moved into a new tank, a 90 gallon corner flo and he already found his way down to the sump!!!

Anything I can do or is he constantly going to do this? He's only done it once but it was done on the first night so I'm thinking this could be a nightly occurrence.

He is stressed and looking for a place to hide. It will end very badly unless he gets comfortable. He will end up coming out of the overflow and jumping out of the tank instead of in the tank eventually. This is what happened to mine when i was moving things around. I even had a 6" open top canopy over the top of the tank and mine cleared it. Down to the ground it went.

I suggest that you do everything you can to create a hiding space behind rock and put up something to block it's escape. After it comes out, throw some netting (or maybe egg crate) over the overflow for a while.

Mine had never tried to escape in over 2 years, and has never tried to escape since. I still run open top to this day. GL!

Insomniac2k2 makes great points. I also run open top and have never had an issue with my eel inhabitants. It is very crucial to have many nice and safe hiding spots (in accordance to its size) for the eel to hide. Best of luck and keep us informed :)
