How big is it? The little ones need to eat more often -- as much as every day. Adults can be fed less -- as little as once or twice a week.

i can give you a photo but i already tried.. its keeps saying its length is too big........ by the way as i see it-its about 1 foot at least-and some inches :idea:

Not sure, I've only had mine a few weeks but I think it's the same size. Twice a week, octopus and shrimp, 3-4 pieces a bit larger than the eel's head. After that amount he cools down from his feeding frenzy and snoozes in the rocks. Mine seems to come out more when he's hungry, but that could be because he is new and still getting used to the tank

i play it by ear. i feed my fish everyday and check to see if the eel is hungry. hes about 10 12 inches and i just feed the tank and if he comes out and looks very interested i pop a piece on a feeding stick and give it to him before he goes crazy and starts to swim and try and eat everyone... i dont feed very large pieces and have been feeding daily though every so often he doesnt seem interested in food. its just like kids grow fast need food to support it as they age not growing so much so less feeding is necessary.

Mine is somewhere between 15 and 18 inches long, and I feed him once or twice a week. As NewJerseyReef says, he comes out and swims around when he's hungry. I feed him shrimp, squid, and scallops and he'll take 2-3 pieces, then retreat into one of his caves.

Oh ok i got it thanks, lol that was kinda funny when you said "before it goes crazy and tries to eat everyone" haha and plus thanks for the info guys. :spin1:
and -dahouck its ok with me if u reposted (;

OK guys my Friend has a snowflake it is huge about 3' long he feeds it by hand. He has had it fore about a year. his question is is it just common for it to stop eating it has not eaten in two weeks he has not made any changes to the tank or added any fish that i now of. Can you help him out.....

From what I understand it is common for them to stop eating and kind of go into a hibernating stage, not like sleeping but in a calmer and less active state. I'm not sure if this is because they don't have good conditions or not, how are his params
