So how many of you use Zeovit?

I began using it about a month ago.. So far so good. I've noticed better polyp extension and my blues have really come out more.

I've been using it since last month.
So far so good I can see more poly extensions.
However, I have to wait for more weeks.
We will see the results.

I think about it often and research it quite a bit, just not sure I want to do the daily maitenance that seems to be required. That being said there sure are some nice Zeo tanks out there. That being said there are some nuice DSB and BB tanks out there too. What works for you may not work for me and vice versa. However I respect all. Trying to duplicate the ocean in our cubes of water can be a daunting , challenging task no matter your methodology. For me every time I think I get something figured out, I lose a coral. Im BB at present and its not without its challenges as well.

I started using it on the 19th. So far I havent noticed any significant changes, but my nutrients were already on the low side. Now its just a matter of keeping them super low, and also feeding the corals with the mulm from the zeolites. I am also using Coral Vitalizer and AAHC. If anything I hope to see results from those two within the next weeks.

For the record man, you can use Zeovit with ANY of those above mentioned methods. BB seems to be the preferred way though. I am running a SSB because I simply dont like the BB look. If I can keep my nutrients low with a SSB I will stick with it. If my nutrients start getting out of line, the SSB will either be replaced or just changed to BB.

Also the daily maintenance is pretty minor man. Its only a matter of putting a few drops of 2 or three bottles in there and pumping your rocks. It takes MAYBE 2 mins to do your daily maintenance. If doing 2 mins a day will keep your nutrients super low and also grow your corals like weeds with awesome color, I think its worth it :P. The biggest factor with Zeovit is the $$ involved IMO, not the maintenance. The upfront cost is rather high, but after that the products last a very long time.

I have yet to use a method that took more time than I was willing to spend on this hobby. I think spending time and success just go hand in hand regardless of the method you decide to use. IMO that's why you see such a high turnover in the hobby, that and the money it requires to remain active. ;)

Steve how has Zeo worked out for you? From the look of it, you have some deep pockets! Not many folks are using $2k+ skimmers LOL

Though given you are a CA resident, im sure things seem a bit cheaper for you.

Thats the only crappy thing about the price of online goods. For those of you who live in high cost areas, you can afford items much easier than those of us who live at a standard cost of living. Hell, its no wonder you guys drive the vehicles you do. It just sucks that you have to pay $1 million for a 3 bedroom house :(

1.5 years now, in phase 3, and I've lowered my dosing considerably. I like it, but it's not for everyone.

It really grew on me when I started working from home about 5 months ago, and now my desk is about 6 feet from my SPS reef. I've become a lot more attentive to changes in my system lately, and as a result, I've been able to make decisions on my dosing based on seeing the result over the course of the entire day. I really made a difference for me.

Most of all, I like the other zeoheads. :) Very constructive group of people who feel the same way about reefkeeping as I do. There is no shortage of helpful folks, and there is a total absence of bickering. Not to say that a good conversation can't be had otherwise... You just won't find a zeovit user that will jump down my throat for considering the purchase of a very expensive skimmer, etc.

Again, it's not for everyone... It won't cure problems that already exist in your reef, and the act of spending the money on the initial basic 4 certainly won't make your corals bigger or brighter.

Ewan, I agree. No system is going to make a tank look magical w/out an attentive keeper. Actually to the contrary with this system. I think if you attempt to blindly dose this stuff in your tank you may end up with major problems, which accounts for why there are many folks who try Zeo and end up with a whole lot of RTN....

I do agree with you on the courtesy of the Zeoheads as well. They are all good people. Thankfully I happen to live just up the road from one of the biggest Zeoheads in the country....GQJeff :p. Hes a hell of a nice guy!

You bet! It's very easy to blindly follow some general dosing instructions, and end up with a disaster. I can recall initially dosing roughly 20x the amount of zeostart that I do now (typically, that's the stuff that caused the biggest catastrophes). I was rewarded with some nasty tissue recession.

Jeff is a very helpful person. Definately an asset to the reefkeeping community. I'll bet his tank is amazing to see in person.

First... my pockets are empty not deep.

I'll tell you what though I have no idea were the stuff the BK is pulling out comes from. The system (250g) right now has two yellow damsels and a handful of snails along with some LPS. No sand and the total amount of live rock in the sump would fit in a 20g tank. No LR in the tanks at all. I added a 90# remote DSB last week because I'm bored and no other reason.

The BTA, softies and xenia are in a different system.

Second... I don't have enough SPS to shake a stick at right now so I'm not dosing. It's been a struggle for me the last few months, family issues, busy "real business" caused a lack of care for the system. I'm getting everything back in line again and I added a couple small SPS last week as a test. It just killed me to help unbox 6 boxes of SPS last week and come home with nothing. :(

i've been on since 2/27. PE, growth and coloration all increased. so far so good. i also dose less than recommended.

I would like to note, I HIGHLY ..did I say HIGHLY??? HHHHHIIIIGGGGHHHHLLLLLYYYYY recommend you talk to Bob or Jeff before starting this system. They will give you a customized dosing regimend. If you already have low nutirents (I do) and you start at the levels of dosing that the guide says, you are in for a world of hurt. I only dose 4 drops a day of Start2 where the guide (for a tank that has high nutrients) would use like 1ml which is ALOT more than 4 drops :P. You really need to talk to folks who know how the system works before you start, otherwise you will end up stripping too much stuff out too fast and end up with a disaster.
