So I got Ich in the DT. Now what?

I know this could be to the threatment forum, but thats not the case. I want to know what happens after you get ich in you DT.

So far my blue tang, my naso tang and my yellow eye kole tang are the victims,all dead within day and all tangs, so go figure...

My problem is that I cant catch my fish in the DT. They do have a lot of hiding place, and tearing the place down to hunt them I dont think is the best idea.

Using copper in the DT... no. Everything else thats not a fish will die.

Leave the tank fishless for 3 months, again I cant take all my fish out, and even if I actually manage to do it I dont have another tank to keep them safe.

So which are my alternatives? I cant be the only one with this problem.

Will Ich always be in my system even if the fish that survive show no signs of it?

Any advice is really appreciated.

I had the same problem but i caught it to late i lost all mine petco now has a dollar a gallon sale go get a tank and use a fish trap to transfer them you could also try rally with kick ich no copper it worked for me kinda it slowed it but didn't love it but it will buy you some time leave the tank with no fish for weeks make sure its all dead. good luck!

The short answer is yes, if you don't get the survivors out.
If you don't rid your tank of ich your remaining fish will always be infected, with another outbreak one stressful situation away.
Three fish dying that quickly suggests another cause, but there is something lurking in your tank, waiting to rear its ugly head with the addition of a new fish, large temperature or salinity swing, or no apparent reason at all.
As hard as it might seem to break your tank down to catch and treat the fish ( and leave the tank fishless for 72+ days ), the alternative is to always be waiting for the next, possibly deadly, outbreak.
Do some research in the disease forum and decide on a treatment method ( TTM is my favorite ), then get your fish and tank healthy, and get back to enjoying this hobby.

sounds more like velvet to me if three fish died in a single day. Well there really isn't a good option for you if you can't take the fish out. Question is you can't or don't want to mess with the rock work? Petco is having their dollar a gallon sale. I'd grab a tank asap and temporarily remove rockwork just to catch the fish. Otherwise, you may be risking losing all of your fish and very quickly at that.

If you have ich and cannot remove the fish then management is your only possibility left IMO. However, if you have velvet then it is just a matter of time before your fish are gone without treatment.

From the info given on the timeline it does not sound like ich.

It most certainly helps to know what disease you are fighting. For example, ich can be treated in the display with hyposalinity (assuming you don't have inverts to save), and velvet can not.

well the 3 fish died in separate times. First the Naso, then Blue, Then Kole.

All this happened in about 2 weeks. I cant take the rocks because my tank is not all rocks, I used foam as part of the decoration, you can see the thread here:

Are you saying that you built your rock structures inside the tank and now can't remove them? It kind of looks that way from the pics.

If that is the case, you may be better off to reset the tank.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this so soon after starting out.

You could try draining the tank. Leave only an inch or two in the bottom. Better yet would be to dig a low spot in the sand in one corner, and force the fish to go there.

If you are sure it was ich, you can use hyposalinity in the display. Make sure to read up on the specifics.
