So I purchased a tank...

I stopped by Aquatics & Exotics with DH today. I talked him into a 65 g tank that included lights. I got sand, salt, and other gadgets. They were very nice and the corals were, indeed, very nice.

I am considering just having the tank be a mated maroon clown fish tank and putting some corals in. I am not sure that the maroons would mix well with others.

I am very glad to have a tank that I won't have to think much about putting together (we're really busy - lol!). I'd like to put together a 100 g still, but this will give me time. Maybe we'll move and I can do an in-wall tank. I need to get a skimmer, sump, and the overflows, etc still for the 65, but I look forward to getting back into the hobby.

DH is happy. I have kept my spending decent enough that he should still get to buy the crane for his video camera. :)

We had MIL keep the kids last night. This morning, I heard the children moving around, they just woke up. I went into the living room and found them in the stand. I think I'll need that lock on it pretty soon  . My daughter asked me to please get her tank ready for fish.

Here is a picture of what we have so far (sans kids).....

Having been out of the hobby for a bit, is having growth over the back of the tank not as acceptable anymore? :P

I like the idea of black over blue though.

The maroons are a pretty pair. However, they are somewhat aggressive. I would rethink that specific species of clown. They can get very picky on the other things you decide to put into the tank.
The set up looks very nice and I have to say I agree on the black background!!

I've had maroons before. I appreciate the input though. I do understand this is a concern, maybe we'll watch some of the other fish at the pet store. Can you think of another one of the clowns that has as much "personality"? I do not want a tomato clown :P .
I am fine keeping a maroon dedicated tank. I am going to be wearing gloves, so that should prevent them from drawing my blood :) and such :) .

Most of the fish I really like would need more than 65 gallons for me to want to keep it.

My husband had really good luck with the perculas. I still like the maroons better though. They are just so much prettier.

Good luck!!!
