so I saw a perfect sized big tank. need some help on parts

It comes with a super big steel stand. It will fitwhere the 2 tanks are sitting at

Yup. Im going to visit him today

I hope you can fit the tank around the corners of your hallway. I don't remember seeing another door to that room. I'm not sure if you have a truck but I have a trailer I can lend you if you need something to haul it with

Man I hope so too. The tank should fit through the double door and straight into my dinning room. Then I should be able to swing it around. I'll connect some PVC pipes to try it out.

4 years ago...I had a 1,000g FOWLR. 8x4x4 Ran the ReeFlo Black fin extrenal pump and had another setup as closed loop. Had Chinese LED units I picked up off of Alibaba. Had 2 SWC 360a skimmers. Tank had sharks, tangs and rays. My electricity went up about $230 a month or so if I remember correctly.

This is very doable. Just plan it right and it won't be a a huge burden on your wallet. You will be fine. I can't wait till you get this thing. I'm coming over to help setup

The evaporation from a tank that size will be terrible. Maybe look into an exhaust fan. My tank is 8' 250g, and it gets very humid in my house. I installed a whole house fan, which is great during winter, but during summer months it's too hot to use it.

Running multiple skimmers will get old. I would look into selling the 3 you have, and get 1 big one. Look at Aquamaxx, they sell a very large skimmer for a tank that size, and it's not terribly priced. If you want to save money on flow, throw a few Jebao WP60s. They move a ton of water. You can probably do 2 gyres, and 2 WP60s, and call it a day. For a tank that size, I would sell the Arid, and have john from AA build you a custom sump with a large refugium. Get a quality grow light, and that will help keep nutrients down. He can even incorporate an area for frags down below. Save you from having to have a separate frag tank. For a return pump, I would think you would want to run one of the large Reeflo pumps. And I know they are energy hogs.

Having a tank that size requires the right equipment. Don't waste time setting it up with mismatch equipment, only having to redo it a few months later. Lights you can skimp on for now, that's no biggie. (And will probably end up being the most expensive part of the tank.). If you don't already have a mixing station, you should budget that into the build. Remember more evaporation = bigger ATO reservoir. I use my 65g ro/di reservoir as my ATO for my 250.

great! thanks!

skimmers, lights and flow will be covered. seems like I can use current equipment and call it a day for now. Skimmer will be upgraded as soon as I can afford something nicer

John will definitely design the sump. I plan to make a 2 sided sump. 1 side for all the equipment. The other side can be a refugium. I'm thinking about adding the ATO/Dosing compartment all into the sump.

return pump I am currently looking at the Red dragon speed 3 230watts. A little expensive but I love how quiet they run

never thought about the humidity.. I will look into that. My current 150gal is covered by glass, not much topping off, but requires chiller..

How many gallon reservoir will it be? My old tank which was 180g evaporated almost 20g a week. I had to carry 4-5g jugs of ro/di to fill my reservoir, that got old quick. I ended up ditching that idea and building a mixing station out side in a shed. I ran a 1/4" line in the house, and that is where my tank gets top off water from. Luckily mine gravity feeds into the house. I wouldn't even consider a tank that size with out having a top of system designed similar to what I have. 600+ gallons will need a lot of top off water. You can run a usb cable along the with the 1/4" line so you can add an eb8 near your mixing station. If it's too far to gravity feed, you can use a simple peristaltic pump. They will pump water very far, usually 60+ feet. Then all you need to worry about is keeping your ro/di reservoir full. That can be done by adding a couple float switches and a break out box. OR avast marine makes a stand alone controller to add to a reservoir to keep it full. It incorporates float switches, a solenoid, and an auto shut off valve on your ro/di, which most come with now.

Auto top off .com has one as well, I think Avast marine is just a little nicer

I average about 1-2gallons top off daily. will definitely talk to John to fit a 30-40gal in there. Trying to make the steel stand as open as possible and fit the biggest sump I can.

I installed a few RODI all around the house so I can access RODI water just about every room :D side effects of having a tank in almost every room. I have RODI lines running along walls. LOL

john made all my reservoirs. salt and RODI

How often are you refilling that 65 gal Rodi tub these days?

I'm building a 225 and Ive always had a 50 gallon barrel as my Rodi reservoir. With my 125 I had to refill maybe once every 5-6 weeks. Of course summer is here and that changed to 3-4 weeks.

Just trying to see how much I'm gonna go through with this 225.

Thanks

This is hilarious haha. Great idea. I need to do this. I've gathered like 3-4 Rodi systems so far. Need to put them into use.

I prefer keeping the ATO container smaller and have RODI line go right into it with a shut off valve and float switch. This way if my ATO acts up and pump the whole container in, my salinity is still in check. When I go on vacation I just leave the RODI line on and refills the container by itself

My reservoir auto fills, so I couldn't tell you.
