I know - how often do you hear THAT?
So as I'm want to do with constant self-questioning: On my 50 gal tank (36"x18"x18") I have a 250 watt Mh 10k bulb. I also have 2 T5 39 watt actinic+ blue bulbs as well.
I am acclimating a crispa nem and while I've been concerned about him, I THINK as of now he's doing OK. I put a screen over the tank and he's coloring up and coming out.
So given that the bulb is about 6-8" off the water I'm wondering if this is just too much for him.
So if it is I can do a few things to quickly remedy:
Remove the Mh and plug in 2 more T5's using the same ballast I have now (Icecap 660). Would that be ENOUGH?
What about a 250W 14k bulb with no T5 suppliment?
Build a hood that's taller - add about 10" (bummer - but could)
Get 175 watt ballast?
