& so it begins.....

Some of those look like the chipping is a little exessive. You weren't pushing on it were you? You have to let the drill do the work. I would be a little scared some of those.

That's what I was thinkin'...

Steve

yeah the 1st 2 i pushed a bit too hard i think & one the bit grabbed as it went thru....those are the ones w/ the bad chipping. i think i might silicone them up real good once i do the final install on the bulkheads.

**edit** those are on the return side of the closed-loop, so i might contact glass-holes.com about exchanging those (4) 3/4" bulkheads for (4) 1" bulkheads.

i think that would be the best bet......

yeah, after closer examination, i have decided to open the return side of the closed-loop up to 1" bulkheads......this will take the chipping out

i sent an email to glass-holes.com about exchanging these for 1" bulkheads. then i'll have to get (4) 1" mpt x 3/4" fpt reducing adapters for the 3/4" loc-line nipples i have to screw into the new 1" bulkheads

In the future, don't 'push' at all. Let the weight of the drill do the work. It may take a little longer, but it does give a better cut.

What's the old saying....."Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it"...

yeah, i'm gonna take 10x as long to drill the holes next time LOL

talked to mike at glassholes & instead of having to go up to 1" bulkheads & redo 2/3rds my plumbing, he has some 3/4" bulkheads that take a hole that a 1" bulkhead woud go in....SCORE!!!!

al i have to do is send these back & $15 for the bigger glass drill bit & he'll get em out to me......so off to the post office i go :)

Most likely schedule 80 bulkheads.

i have become a lazy-butt on doing anything at the moment LOL

i pretty much stopped till i get the chipped bulkhead holes situation taken care of.....figure no sense building the stand till i get the tank drilled properly, cause if i managed to break the tank, then i might build/buy a different size....say a 36x24x18 (~68 gal)

so that's where i'm at right now. as soon as the new bulkheads & glass drill bit come from glass-holes.com, i'll tackle re-drilling the holes & then go from there.....

* drill bulkheads
* paint back of tank
* build stand
* cut the new black eggcrate to size & bulkhead cutouts
* affix new glass baffles in sump
* start the rock wall
* etc etc etc etc etc......
