I do it for a living, but am amazed at some of your macro shots and dive shots... I went to the keys and used a disposable camera that totally sucked...

so anyone else do it for a living? or just to take fish photos?

I'm "part time." I do have a photography income but it's not nearly enough to be my primary at this point.

I'm actually switching jobs..... Digital has ruined the professional photography industry, so i have to find a new way to make $$..

Purely amatuer here, though I have some of my dragonflies in a local library and in one of our local parks. For me it's just a way to relax but sometimes it get's the best of me and I find myself chasing a critter for hours to get the right shot.

and I don't really have any levels!!!!!

I've never heard this before. Why would you say its "ruining the professional photography industry"?

Do you REALLY want me to vent? It's a pretty sore subject... i dont mind sharing, but it might annoy people..

And would probably completely derail this thread.

I don't make any money with photography, but get a lot of help requests. My latest project was shooting the CD cover for a friend's band.

Level of experience? I started at the race track with a Canon F1 in 1999. No auto-metering, not even auto focus. I shoot a 20D now, but still primarily for my own pleasure.

Forever an amateur...never want to take my hobby further than a hobby (though I have done a couple shoots for local folks)...but always willing to be amused by more stories how "digital" and the progression of technology have decimated the industry.

I say amused because I've heard the same stories from manufacturers for a lot longer thanks to automation. Growing pains really bite for sure but in a technology driven market we're all tiny fish that either evolve/adapt or become food for something else. I've had my tail chomped a few times and it hurts for sure but I ain't dead yet....
