I am not in a rush at all but I put live rock in 3 days ago and so far nothing has happened. No ammonia spike. no critters. Really nothing happening at all.

3 days? Wow, you got me. Something shoulda happened after all that time. After 3 days all my rocks were covered with hitchhiking zoanthids.

Just kidding. In about a week you'll see ammonia's maybe, week two your nitrites will be high and you'll see traces of nitrates. As nitrates elevate you'll probably get your first big diatiom bloom. 2-3 weeks. In about a month you may see some macro algae like sargassum peaking out of a few cracks. Maybe a worm crawling across the sand. If your calcium levels are high enough, the rocks will begin to purple up. In 6 months to a years you'll see lots of copepods, amphipods and probably tube worms.

Nothing good happens fast in this hobby.

Ha Ha I keep thinking I will wake up to a tank full of critters. Like I said I am in no hurry trying to do things right. I'll just keep staring in at empty rocks..
