soap

If I can help it, I try not to use soap or detergent. ie I don't wash dishes the night I am planning tank maintenance or a frag sale.

if there is nothing on my hands, just hot water and wringing of hands and forearms before wipe down with clean towel.

if there is something on my hands, anti bacterial hand soap with hot water rinse.

I just high pressure rinse my ocassional sock use down with gardne hose, but I have heard people just wash them with home machine.

I use the dishwasher for the socks. NO SOAP. Top rack works well.
Hot water ONLY about 140 degrees.

I soak my filter socks in 25% bleach and water for a few days. Then rinse thourghly. Allow to air dry for a couple of days. They look like new and are not clogged any more. When I wash with just the hose they do not flow freely and do not get really clean. I have 6 or seven socks and try to change them every three days. When I take a dirty out it just goes in the bucket to soak. When 3 have been soaking for a day or so I rinse them all out and let them dry.

I put mine in the clothes washer in just hot water, sometimes put in some bleach.

If really dirty I put a slight amount of soap in and put in on x large.
