soft coral?

trying to id this new coral growing in my tank. I have not added anything to the tank in a year. and I just noticed it this week. it is about the size of a quarter right now.

I don't think I've ever seen anything with that form in a tank. Maybe a sponge of some sort? Can you take a further back shot to get some scale?

Probably not a coral . Maybe some sort of macro algae . Very pretty though!
