I have had 4 different soft corals die at the base and basically shear themselves off. I have saved them all by cutting the dying part off the coral.
It first happened with a pulsing sinularia. Then my regular sinularia, then a green sinularia. Now it happened to a huge toadstool coral that i have.
The toad stool basically just sheared itself off at the base. The base is like 4-5" across. It is a very healthy coral, it regularly frags itself on its own. There doesn't seem to be any nasty dying tisse around the base, it's like it just slide off.
With the other corals that sheared off at the base, I could see them get black, and little sinewy ligament type things seemed to poke out of the area where they dying was. With my toadstool, it just looks like it melted away at the base.
All my other corals and params are fine.
Anyone know if there is some sort of pest that is targetting my softies?
