my 15G nano will be a soft corals tank, my water movement is about 30 times tank volume, with koralia powerhead

i sow same video about briareum / clavularia viridis and the seem to wave a lot
not sure if is only water movement or also the polio that waves him self

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE8IfVX1a6M

this looks like a really strong water movement

do i need this kind of movement if i want to keep briareum / clavularia viridian
i searched in forum for more info but found relative few topic, does it as an other english name?

The common english name for briareum is Green Star Polyps or GSP. If you try a search using the common name you will find a lot of threads because it is a very popular coral, especially with beginners. The movement is caused by water flow, they do not pulse like some sp. of xenia. They are a very easy to keep coral and very adaptable to tank conditions, 30x flow in the tank should be fine for a GSP colony. They also spread quickly in a mat form, and many people have had issues with it crowding out other corals. Most people will recommend that you place it on its own rock away from other rocks so that it may be trimmed back as it starts to spread across the substrate of the tank.

The common english name for Clavularia Viridis is Glove Polyps. The information I gave you for GSP is the same for glove polyps, they are adaptable and easy to keep corals, that can also spread quickly.

Hope that helps!

Hi, I'm an absolute beginner, so maybe do not pay too much attention. But if I go beyond 30% on my maxspect gyre 130 in a 40G build my Briareum retracts completely and does not come out again. I probably could work around that by moving it but I have too much stone in the tank to move it in a place where it would not overgrow everything. I'm sure other people might have more experience.

ok thanks, if i buy a big colony can i cut it in 2 smaller peace?
i often see it without a rock, would the existing colony attach to the rock or just the growing part?

Yes if you see it without a rock you can cut it in half with a pair of stainless steel scissors. In my understanding the existing colony would attach to the rocks as well as the growing part, however I have no personal experience with this because I have only ever seen them offered on small pieces of rock.

I have gsp on a 5" rock on the sandbed away from the main rocks. the mat will grow along the sand and every couple of months I cut off a few inches and throw it away because no one wants any. feather duster growing out of the middle of it.

I could be wrong but, I believe briarium and GSP are two different softies. I have always known briarium to have a "feathery" look.

as far as i know briarium is different from clavularia viridis because it is light pink when closed and polyps are longer and it looks more like a carpet
