Softy Light Requirement

well what pc's are they? 18w, 32w??? 65w? It helps to know the watts and whatnot. And its 2 bulbs, right?

More than likely, no sps, but pretty much any softy will do.

Yeah, as much as wattage doesn't matter, it kinda matters. :D I keep all the corals in my sig under pc's. I would probably start with some polyps and softies though.

If i may add, Wattage not near as important as having a good reflector for them. I have 2x 27w and 2x 32w PC's on my Cube with Mylar lining the inside of the lid. It puts out enuf light that i have to place my mushrooms underneath outcroppings. also my candycanes, richordia, and zoas all are doing great.

just speaking from 4 years of experience with this lighting (within a 7 year old tank, which was fish only for its first 3 years) i have kept softies under 2 regular out-put flourescent (1 24'' hagen powerglow and 1 24' marine glow''). My corals did fine, they are all still alive. Granted i went through some expiramentation with the lower lghting corals and polyps. Growth was very slow (except for a colt coral which eventualy recceded and died from stress due to my clown taking it as a host). I have some sort of green finger leather (not sur eif its lamnelia or sinularia or what, havnt gotten a proper I.d yet., cabbage corals, sinularia. Infact all sofites except yellow tonga leathers did fine under that lighting, agian just not very fast growth.

Your lighting will be more than sufficent if your using pc's. My tank was also deeper than yours.

Thanks added some star pollyps and some bright orange zoo's they seem to be doing good and for any one thinking about buying a fission nano skimmer dont do it. Today the one i formerly had in my tank flooded my room and it never filtered anything but clear water any ways.... they are junk!

I have a GSP colony under 18 watt NO flourescent. It had a real growth spurt when I first got it and has slowed down a bit, and lost a minor amount of color but is still doing fine, and stillgrowing pretty fast.

while on the subject, my tank is basically an overgrown 75 gallon (80 gallon i've been told) i got 2 PC 96w (one 10K daylight and one AC03) that should be enough right? or do i need more?
