IS it mean or nice i have heard both. I have a 150gal tank so i am right at the min size ... input of any type world me great pls

Sohal can be nice when they are smaller, but as they get older they can get really mean. I would suggest passing on them unless you plan to get a 8' long tank in the future. A 6' tank will not be enough room when they start to grow.

yes, even a 150 is small for them, they are a aggressive fish. I would pass on a shaol. There are plenty of other tangs that would work great in that tank. I know they are a beautiful fish. They would also bother your other tank mates as he matures. just an opionion

i had a sohol in a 180 with a blond naso,purple,2 yellows,ad various schooling fish.after 2 years the sohol started darting aroun tank periodically slamming into large acros and breaking branches off.this happened for about 2 months after which i trapped the fish.sold him to fish store.dont regret it.others have had better luck than i with sohols.pretty fish but aggressive

hey thanks for sharing, i had seen another guy on this board tell us how his shoal killed a small volitan.

i have had one for about a year and he is the most peacefully fish in the tank !!! my green chromis are more aggressive then the sohol is. as long as he is happy the he will be ok in the tank. but this is a rare sohol in that he is ok with other tang. i would say that one in ten are a pain so it is a gamble to get one IMO.

Thats the thing with Sohals, they have a switch personality. I have seen ones getting along well for a couple years and then just going crazy. Clown triggers also seem to do this.

These fish do not belong in the hobby as far as im concerned. If you where to go the red sea,and see them on the reef crests you would agree. they cover so much space! no wonder they get aggressive in the 6/7 ft tanks!
