Solana tank owner thread.

I just got my Sapphire Aquatics Skimmer for the Solana and it is *quiet* ! I'm not sure of much skimmate it pulls since my tank is only full of water, tomorrow I am going to go get some LR. And begin the cycle...

Yes, but on the bottom of each leg is some pegs, maybe made of plastic? Mine has the same tiny amount of movement, but I have no water yet, so it might weigh down and not do it anymore. I used a level and its even.

That magnet on the door, is kind of "sticky" or held tight. I wonder if all are like that? Overall the stand is very nice, I like it, and appreciate it more now that I've put it together myself.

Solana Tank Only

But I suggest you call your LFS, local fish store(s), you'd be surprised what they can do. I called mine on Wed, ask if they could order the Solana tank and/or stand only not in a kit with light, and he said yes! So he ordered me just the tank and stand, which was at an in town distributor, so he picked it up on Thursday and I got it that night after work. One day turn around. No shipping fees, but tax. Still it was not beat up or tossed around. I suggest this method.

My magnet is "sticky" also. Doesn't really bother me.

I just figured out a way to make it not as "sticky", loosen the screws on the magnet piece and angle it to where the top is pulled towards you and the door, then angle the bottom of it as far back as it can go, re-tighten the screws. It should still hold the door shut but not be as hard to open!

I am interesting in the Sapphire but I was waiting for someone with a Solana to get one first. The big question for me is, any bubbles???

there are some but I'm hoping they will go away after it breaks in... but only time will tell! I had one of older model sapphire skimmers for my nc24 and the same thing happened. although for me a few bubbles doesn't bother me, I couldn't stand the noise of the stock and the tunze requires modding to fit into the solana and from what i hear the top tends to come off.

So quiet is good, and if the bubbles subside, this is my choice of skimmer too! Keep us informed here, as we are very eagerly awaiting the outcome.

I've had enough with the solana protein skimmer. My tank is full of micro bubbles and its not getting any better. Tunze skimmer and the stevie t cup is going in.

I don't know if you can tell but the front piece of rock is curved and kind of hangs there

Fill it till it gets to the level where the auto top-off bottles sit. The piece of plastic that they go into is where the water level should be give or take an inch

is the the level the back should be. the bottles holding water and they let it out as needed but I'm just wondering if its ok to have barely on the filter?

My water level is about that same height. I do use a Tunze Osmolator though.

I just realized the solanas come with an open top, and I got kids yeah 3 and 4 year old ones that would love to trow a penny or water ever inside...

Does the solana have a glass lid or something like that or I have to fab something?
