Guess I'll just unsubscribe. I came here for information, not an argument which is the direction this seems to be going.

Seriously, show me real data. Gore pointed out an article re: melting ice shelf on western side of Antarctica. I took a moment to find his source. The abstract did indeed mention the melting of the western shelf. Too bad Gore didn't read the next paragraph, where the Eastern shelf was growing...Skewed, inaccurate. Vomit.
Have you even tried evaporative cooling?

Dont post something you know nothing about. Most people that add chillers do it to lower the temperature of their tank not prevent water evaporation. If your tank runs hot it does matter how much water you add it will still be hot.
Again, I suggest you read the post above. My fishroom gets well above 80. Evaporation is how I keep my tank temperature at 79.If the ambient temperature where the tank is located gets above 80 (summers, south west, south, south east, north west, etc) your tank is going to heat up more due to powerheads, skimmer, lights, etc.
You will lose corals as your tank goes above 85, $500 or more on a chiller is well worth the investment instead of risking losing thousands of dollars on corals and livestock.

I also have (3) 3"fans computer fans blowing on the sump. My water temp stays less than 80f. [/B]

This all comes down once again to the bottom line...I am saving money...i hate that you all won't admit that leds run 40% more efficient in the solaris.

I am not saying it is impossible...but look you are running four or five fans extra...i am not...regardless of cost for those fans...its still a cost...and a noise i might add...maybe not much....also you are running lights that are using more energy...so i guess I am saving money

I still have not seen an actual watt draw on a 6' H4 Solaris fixture.
