What do they look like Tom ?

I bet it looks pretty amazing, since Shooter established that the sun does shine in Illinois.

ya but we are talking about belleville, IL correct?

I want to stop by tonight or tomorrow night during the thunderstorm:bounce1: lightning YA!

Pardon the ignorance, but can someone explain to me what a solar tube is? Is it basically just a skylight and then a reflective tube that goes down to the tank? If these are such great things then why doesn't everybody have their tank next to a huge window or better yet in a sunroom? Just curious :)

It is just how you said, a sky light with a reflective tube that brings the light above the tank. My tank has windows on both sides of it. I love when the sun light reflects thru the tank in the morning, then in the evening. The corals enjoy it as well. :D

I like the idea free light, free moonlight, and for entertainment free strobe light during thunderstorms. Wish my wife would let me cut a hole in the roof. Tom's got it easy over there. :D

Chelsey,

Your description is correct.

Windows really only get good sun for a short portion of the day if at all. A sun room would be a good place for a tank to be set up but unfortunately, they are probably something that not too many of us have or can afford.

Yeah Steve, come on over! You can check out my tank, then we can sit out on the back patio and look at the sun. Why, I think it might even be brighter over here. We have stars at night too. :D

Wow, had not thought about checking out that tube at night during a lightning storm. That's gotta be pretty cool!

Dang, I bet you guys do have stars at night there, STL city doesnt. If I knew I would not get caught I would shoot out all the street lights to remember what a star looked like.

My days of staring into the sun are over, that sounds like a Dallas thing anyways.

But I do want to see your Rookie of the year tank tho.
