Solving high pH problem

I have had high pH readings for some time now ...8.23 low to 8.56 high. Never used to be this high. Tried various methods ...resulting in only temporary fixes. Did a water change recently and tested the pH of water I was putting in tank ...and it was 8.7!!! Had changed salt as my LFS did not have Instant Ocean Salt I normally used. So that appears to be my problem.
Is it ok to do gradual water changes of about 10% with just RO/DI water and no salt to bring my pH down? If so how frequently can I do a water change ...every week? Thanks for any input.

IMO, that range is OK, but going above 8.5 becomes more and more of a concern.

How are you measuring pH?

Most high pH problems in the absence of adding limewater or other high pH additives are measurement error.

OK, then the article should help. Aeration, soda water,and viengar are the ways to lower pH, with aeration being optimal.

How high is the alkalinity?
