So i just finished up the Auto top off system. I am currently running all of my ro water to a 35 gallon container in my garage. it is about a 25 feet from my container to the sump. i am running a mag 5 pump trough a 1/4od hose. Now that i have it all run, i have found that when i start to pump water it creats a siphon. I dont have the tube placed in the water but somehow it still seems to siphon, any ideas, have any of you ran into this problem before. I should also state that my container is about 4 feet higher in elevation than the sump, it is a downhill jeorney for the water until about the last 3 feet, where is make a straight uphill climb to my sump. am i missing something? thanks

As long as the reservoir your pumping from is higher than the sump as soon as you start pumping it's going to create a siphon and not stop unitl it draws air. The only thing you may be able to do would be to put some kind of vent in the line at the top of the reservoir so that once the pump is turned off it would draw in air and kill the siphon. You would end up losing some of your pumped water back into the reservoir while pumping but that shouldn't be a problem.

if you have 4 ft of head, why even use a pump? Just use gravity and one of those Kent float valves to shut off the flow.

If it will siphon - then use it!
