Some Eye Candy

Glad to understand how the frag swap works. So now that I have been educated, would it maybe make sense to do a frag swap once every three months? or is that too often? maybe twice a year?

once or twice a year is usual. for the people setting up, its quite a chore to load, pack corals, unload, setup, tear down, pack corals again, load up, go home and unload everything. its very surprising how many corals one person can cram into just a 20 or 30 gallon tank.

I Think we should get one organized. I heard of something called "Crays"? or something? put on by COMAS? what's that all about?

CRASE is more of a expo. all those guys online that sell corals set up a booth. it is more of a "sale only" type of event for corals, but there is also some drygoods, and speakers that come and explain the hot button topics in the hobby at this point in time. CRASE i believe is in the first week of October this year?? closest time that would be practical to do a frag swap would be late Nov or Dec i would think.

CRASE stands for Conference for Reef Aquarists and Saltwater Enthusiasts. This is the 5th year we have organized this conference. We bring in 3 nationally known speakers to speak in areas of their expertise in the aquarium trade. The vendors are both dry and live goods, national and local. Many bring in corals, some bring fish and seahorses, and a few have specific lines of dry goods and one retailer that brings essentially his portable dry good store. They come out swinging deals.

This year the CRASE is on Sat, Oct. 15th at the Cox Convention Center in OKC. You can find out more in the COMAS forum or on the CRASE website. thecrasedotcom

If you have any questions about CRASE I'd be happy to answer them.

Thank you both for the info! i'm really looking foward to that one! OK Travis - let's talk more about setting a date for the frag swap at the Tulsa Aquarium in Late November. I think that gives us a good amount of time to prepare the event. If it's ok, i would like to partner with you on organizing it. Cool? Maybe we could even invite COMAS to participate?

the aquarium wont let us do anything there, they want to charge everybody admission. we cant even get a "behind the scenes" tour. our first problem is location.

Maybe we could even invite COMAS to participate?

Can't speak for the whole club, but i sure wouldn't turn down the invite lol.

I can't wait for crase this year, I've only ever been to the first one, but I got the opportunity to go with Ray and pick up Ron Shimek and Steve Tyree and have some breakfast, I felt everybit as nerdy as if I had met William Shatner at a trekkie event :P

You guys mentioned the Tulsa Aquarium? is this different than the Jenks aquarium or the same one? So help me if theirs an aquarium in OK i haven't been to yet...
