All,

I just started using photobucket, so I thought I'd test out how to post some pictures using it:

Nice shots.

I clicked on your little red house, how are you liking the Holacanthus africanus you've been working with lately? Are they very aggressive? I've been thinking about adding one to my FOWLR.

Recty,

I haven't gotten it out of quarantine and have been off work (on vacation) for the past ten days, so I really don't have much knowledge about them as yet.

Here is an excerpt for an article I'm writing about West African fishes:

... one African angelfish, (Holacanthus africanus) was imported and then re-shipped by a dealer and then was acclimated to a quarantine system. Most recently shipped fish require a long period of acclimation before they begin behaving normally. Not this angelfish â€"œ while being photographed, it demonstrated the normal angelfish behavior when approached by a camera of moving away, and then turning broadside at the last moment. Unexpectedly, it would then swim back towards the camera and try to bite at the lens! This tiny, recently shipped angelfish showed more chutzpah than a similar angelfish that had been adapted to captivity for many years....

So - I wonder with that sort of "tough guy" behavoir, what these fish would do to other fish?

thank you. that is quite a beautiful animal, how long were you able to keep it in captivity?

klepto,

IIRC, that one was a large adult when we acquired it, so it only lived a few more months before dying of old age.

Because we could never tell how large (old) the animals would be, nor even what species we will get (mimic or wunderpus) we stopped acquiring them and changed the exhibit to display a different animal.
